It said by FOEX which issue the PIX Forest Biomass Finland Index. The new PIX Forest Biomass Finland index value is based on prices of April 2015 trade of forest residues and wood based industry by-product bioenergy components in Finland, excluding pellets and liquid bio-fuels.

The new government has released their programme over the next 4 years. One major policy statement concerning energy production is to give up the use of coal in energy production by the year 2030. This is planned to be done through changes in the taxation. To reach this goal, it would require rapid changes in many facilities, especially in CHP production, either by transforming them to using wood and other bioenergy, or by replacing them with new plants.
According to the Natural Resource Institute Finland (Luke), the Finnish forest industry companies purchased about 2.6 Mm³ of roundwood from domestic privately owned forests in April. Compared to the previous month, the volume increased by almost 0.8 Mm³, or by about 43%. The monthly volume in April was, however, still 7% below the average monthly purchase volume of 2014, and almost 10% below the April 2014 purchase volumes.
The weather in Finland remained milder than average in the whole country also in April. Especially in some parts of Lapland, the temperatures were exceptionally high compared to long-term average. After summing up all the data, removing the 10% of the highs and lows, and calculating the weighted average, the PIX Forest Biomass Finland Index decreased by 47 cents, or by 2.35%, to 19.63 EUR/MWh.
