The main topic of the magazine The Bioenergy International.Russia 2-2016 is the Asian pellet market. Japan's wood pellet imports reached 232,000t last year, up by 140% from 97,000t in 2014, data from Japan's economy, trade and industry ministry showed. Russian pellet mills don't sell to Japan yet. At the same time this market is booming. The South Korean market is familiar for Russians. Several plants export pellets to different South Korean power stations.

Another topic of the current issue of the magazine is the bankruptcy of German Pellets Gmbh in Germany. Russia sells pellets to Denmark and Sweden mostly
Russian pellet market tends to high concentration and monopolization. Today, number of buyers exceed number of exporters more than three times, but it wasn't so two years ago. The main volume of pellets is exported to Denmark and Sweden (aprox.79%). Almost all the pellets were exported from the north-western region of Russia, with the key ports - St. Petersburg, Vyborg and Ust-Luga. Read more
Canadian biomass: Pellet exports from North America to Europe reached a new record high in the 4Q/11
Shipments have increased practically every quarter for four years, up from 130,000 tons in the 1Q/08 to almost 600,000 ton in the 4Q/12, according to the North American Wood Fiber Review (NAWFR). Export data collected by NAWFR from exporters and customs information in both North America and Europe show that wood pellet shipments reached just over two million tons in 2011, up almost 300% from 2008.
